DCA has a new office!

Modern ways of working

The COVID pandemic changed the way a lot of us work, and DCA has been no exception.  When everything was shut down, we moved our editing stations, various computers, gear, accessories, and everything else we needed to our homes.

What we found, like so many others, was that working from home provided us a better work-life balance than going to the office every day, while still being at least as productive.

All of us permanently working remotely wasn’t really the best option though, once the shutdown ended–  we need a space to gather and collaborate and occasionally film, even if it’s not all of us every day.  We were also looking to find a space where one of our out-of-town team members (we have a few) could stay for a night or two when visiting.

So we took advantage of the post-COVID real estate availability in the city, and found a new office that better fits our hybrid-work needs.

The new space we chose is in the historic Clocktower Building in San Francisco, on 2nd Street in the South Park neighborhood (a great area that hosts internet and app companies like LinkedIn and Strava, game studios, and media companies like Wired).  The building was constructed in 1907 and housed a lithograph company for many years before being converted into live/work loft condominiums in 1992.

So without further ado: photos!

A long table with a few chairs sits in front of a floor-to-ceiling window. An arcade game console sits in front of a brick wall nearby.

The main gathering/work area. It’s nice to be able to move the chairs around to where they’re needed— and the courtyard view is lovely!

The kitchen, with the loft above (yes, we know there is nothing on the walls. We’re working on that.)

The sleeping loft and editing station. It’s really convenient for our out-of-town team members to have the option to stay overnight once in a while.

Wynn and Vince set up for a shoot. (Video game breaks are very important during a long day.)

We also love the exposed beams and antique brickwork!

All set up for an office shoot. Wynn’s pretending to be the interviewee so that we can get the lighting just right.

Our new office’s location is also fantastic- close to many excellent food options, other historical buildings, the bay, and of course, Oracle Park (most of us are Giants fans).
We’re very excited about our new space and love spending time in it.  We hope to see you there too, whenever you’re in the area!  Let us know when you’d like to visit by emailing us at dca@dcasf.com
