Gratitude and Thanksgiving

Late November kicks off the holiday season with a pause to enjoy and reflect on the great things in our lives– family, friends, food… lots and lots of food… and of course, our clients. We’re thankful, not just on Thanksgiving but every day, to be able to collaborate with you and help tell your stories.

In celebration of the season, we took a company-wide poll of everyone’s favorite Thanksgiving dish (not counting the turkey). The results may (or may not) surprise you.

Tyler, Wynn, Nate, and Ben like stuffing (around here we call it “stuffing” even if it’s never been near the inside of a bird.) Tyler elaborates to say that it should be the classic StoveTop brand. Wynn specifies that it should NOT be StoveTop but his mother’s recipe. Nate’s happy with any stuffing and Ben only cares that there is gravy on it.

Vince’s favorite is Hawaiian-style sweet bread rolls.

Joseph and Alia love mashed potatoes with gravy.

TK, our resident vegetarian, enjoys green bean casserole.

Otavio reports that his favorite side is just “gravy”.

Clearly, our team members have strong opinions about Thanksgiving stuffing. And the way to get in DCA’s good books would probably involve gravy (just include a vegetarian version!).

Lastly, as we celebrate Thanksgiving, we at DCA would like to acknowledge that the holiday can represent a complex and often painful history of European settlement. We recognize our responsibility to confront the legacies of violence and injustice against Native peoples, and to work towards a more equitable world.

DCA team members live and work on lands that once belonged to the Ohlone, Tamyen, Muwekma, Ramaytush, Kumiais, Miwok, Tongva, Cayuse, Walla Walla, Umatilla, Mbya, and Guarani peoples.
